Cleaning- and maintenance instructions

Stainless Steel

Stainless Steel is an extremely durable material with timeless elegance. A very thin passive layer protects the material from corrosion. Light soiling or fingerprints can be removed with warm water and a microfiber cloth.

The passive layer can be damaged by environmental impacts or improper treatment. These include: high humidity with salt in the air in marine environment, aggressive air pollution, de-icing salt or chlorinated water, foreign objects (e.g. lime- or cement dust) as well as abrasive cleaners or bleaching preparations. The consequences are rust film or surface discolouration.

In order to obtain the required characteristics of stainless steel we recommend an initial cleaning and a regular cleaning (2-3 times a year). For cleaning and care we always recommend our care spray for stainless steel products (Art.-No. CN9999510) and a microfiber cloth.

For already affects surfaces we recommend the cleaner starter kit (Art.-No. CN9999700). It consists of a depth cleaner and a care spray which creates a protective layer in nanoscale to prevent corrosion.

The material always should be cleaned in direction of polish.

Aluminium anodized surfaces

The cleaning of anodized surfaces is necessary to maintain the desired look and to prevent corrosion load.

Cleaners for anodized surfaces must not attack the oxide layer: no fluorides, no chlorides and no sulphates. They must be in the chemically neutral range of pH 5-8. In addition you should not use abrasive material such as sandpaper, steel wool or wire brushes. The chemical industry has developed special cleaners that avoid risks if used correctly. For safe usage, follow manufacturer instruction and test the cleaner at a unremarkable place.
